Three of four men who reportedly attempted to stage an armed robbery and kidnapping in the Corporate Area on Thursday night, were shot dead by a licensed firearm holder.
Reports are that the licensed firearm holder was being kidnapped by four men who robbed him of his Toyota Coaster bus at his home in St Andrew, when the intended victim responded in dramatic fashion.
The licensed gun holder was reportedly able to get the drop on his would-be kidnappers, and managed to pull his firearm and discharge several rounds of ammunition, hitting three of the four men.
Two of the men were found on one roadway, while the third was discovered along another nearby road.
The fourth ‘robber’ escaped in the Toyota Coaster bus, which was later tracked to Duhaney Park, also in St Andrew.
It was reportedly the second time that the bus owner was being robbed of a bus at the same location.
The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the police force confirmed the incident.
The official report from the Half-Way Tree police stated that about 9pm, the four alleged gunmen who were travelling in a white Toyota Fielder motorcar, kidnapped and robbed a driver of a Toyota Coaster bus in the… area. During the incident, the robbers were challenged by a licensed firearm holder, and during the (ensuing) confrontation, three of the men were hit.
They were taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The Toyota Fielder motorcar that was used by the alleged gunmen was seized after it crashed near the shooting scene. The Toyota Coaster bus was also recovered.
Police investigations are ongoing into the incident
