Chairman of the Police Federation Sergeant Patrae Rowe says the recommendation by the Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM, to dismiss JCF members charged with egregious breaches of law before criminal proceedings offends due process.
The recommendation is contained in INDECOM’s second quarterly report for 2019 tabled in Parliament on Tuesday.
Sergeant Rowe is questioning the reasoning behind the recommendation made by INDECOM.
Deputy Commissioner of INDECOM, Hamish Campbell in explaining the reason behind the recommendation says immediate dismissal would be made in rear occasions.
Meanwhile, Sergeant Rowe says he finds the recommendation absurd because INDECOM’s report card shows that the Constabulary has been improving.
The Police Federation Chairman is also reiterating that the JCF has a robust internal disciplinary process.
